Should i try to get him back?

Ive been in love with this guy since my freshman year in high school. we dated all throughout high school until he cheated on me and left me for the other girl. now we've made contact again and we're becoming quite close. in fact, we sorta hooked up a couple weeks ago... but he's becoming my best friend. but my love for him is coming back ever so strongly. he told me yesterday that he joined the army and he will be leaving for arizona (we're from KC MO) in september. after hearing that he would be gone, my feelings went wild. my love for him grew more and i stayed up until 1 am last night just thinking about him. i cry when i think about him leaving. if my feelings are this strong now, should i try to get him back?
